Walt Disney World has more gourmet food than you can eat in a lifetime - and it can cost plenty to do so. But not if you follow my tips for enjoying meals on a budget.

Sure Walt Disney World is a culinary gastronomic delight…and it can also be very pricey to enjoy all the best food the park’s restaurants have to offer. Figuring in drinks, tax and tip, it’s very easy to drop $100 or more per person on a meal.

But I eat out at the parks all the time when I’m in Orlando, and I can have a good hearty delicious meal for under $20 a person. And so can you with these tips…

  1. Think of alternates for breakfast. Sure it’s tempting to indulge in a character breakfast, but doing so will hit your wallet for $20-25 per person. Consider visiting one of the on property bakeries for a muffin or croissant and coffee. Or bring cereal from home and buy milk at the resort’s convenience store. For more tips and my choices for best cheap breakfasts, read “Breakfast on a Budget at Walt Disney World.”
  2. Eat lunch instead of dinner. If you want to eat at one of the higher-priced restaurants, such as the ones at Epcot, consider making a lunch reservation instead of dinner. The food is just as delicious, but the lunch menus are often slightly smaller portions for a much lower price. For my picks on where to eat lunch to get the most gourmet bang for your buck read “Budget Lunches at Disney World.
  3. Get creative at dinner. Make a dinner of appetizers or split a huge entrée with a friend or family member. There are a number of ways to indulge in a gourmet dining experience at Walt Disney World without blowing your entire dining budget at one meal. I outline these tips and the best places to eat dinner in my article, “Budget Dinners at Walt Disney World.”
  4. Sweet snacks at a sweet price. There are many ways to indulge your sweet tooth at Walt Disney World without injuring your wallet. From made-to-order treats to international sweets to healthy alternatives, budget travelers can snack to their hearts content. I outline the best choices for budget snacking in my article, “Snacking at Walt Disney World.”

I hope you enjoy these tips and articles on how to enjoy dining out at Walt Disney World without spending a lot of money. If you have any, please leave a comment.
