Midwest budget bus line Megabus offers new West Coast routes with $1 introductory fares each way.
Travelers in the Midwest have been able to avail themselves of the low cost busline Megabus, for over a year now. Using Chicago as a hub, the company offers riders fares of $40 or less on average to destinations such as Minneapolis, Pittsburgh and Kansas City, MO. Sometimes, special promotions bring fares to under $10 each way.
Now West Coast budget travelers can take advantage of the low fares Megabus offers, as the company starts service to California, Nevada and Arizona this month.
Using Los Angeles as the hub, new routes take riders to San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, San Diego, Las Vegas and Tempe, AZ. And as with the Midwest routes, these are non-stop trips, so you're not paying for the low fares by making twenty stops to pick up extra passengers.
To celebrate these new routes, Megabus is offering $1 fares. No that isn't a typo. $1 each way, plus a one-time reservation fee of 50 cents, will get you a seat on the bus. I priced out seats on the Los Angeles to Las Vegas route, over the upcoming Labor Day weekend, and round trip my ticket cost a mere $2.50. You just can't beat a price like that.
Seats at the introductory price of $1 are limited, but even more expensive seats are still less than most other alternatives.
